Prior to becoming a freelance proofreader, I was a research fellow within a multidisciplinary team working on stroke care in the North West of England, UK. I have a PhD in Health Informatics from the University of Glasgow and an MSc in Psychology & Health from the University of Stirling, Scotland, UK. I obtained my first degree, a BSc (Hons) in Psychology in Bolton, UK. I am an academic author with research papers published in peer-reviewed academic journals (see my publication list). With my experience of reviewing articles for publication both for national and international scientific journals, I understand the value of professional proofreading, especially if the author is a non-native English speaker. Competition for space in academic journals is high, so a paper that is difficult to read because of poor grammar, spelling and punctuation is easy to reject. In addition to my academic experience of writing, reviewing and tutoring, I completed the proofreading course (with Merit) run by The Publishing Training Centre in 2009. |
